#FirstSaturdays is a new initiative from LimeWharf founder, Thomas Ermacora, programming a full day of free interactive experiences within LimeWharf & Wharf Kitchen to promote cultural innovation on Vyner Street once a month. Drawing on the artistic legacy of First Thursdays, Ermacora hopes this creative, recurring event will acquire fresh audiences and further enliven & increase weekend traffic for the local community. In advance of the inaugural #FirstSaturdays event, it has already organically expanded to include many other galleries and businesses along Vyner Street who will be spontaneously joining in for 1 March 2014.

/PRAGMATIC TAROT/
11am-1pm
Pragmatic Tarot – Tarot as technology, without any mumbo jumbo

Everything changes. The tool we use to help us navigate these changes – is a clock. Clocks, with their set of simple symbols, help us visualise our path through time. In many ways the Tarot works in the same way, distilling the infinite down to a limited set of options. The tarot may be a bit more complex than a watch face, but it does not need to be any more esoteric.

The Tarot is a practical tool which harnesses rational and intuitive thinking to explore the nature of change. The process of finding connections between the cards, seeking patterns and coincidence allows the intuition to kick in, providing a few “suggestions” that can seem (and often are) profound. These intuitive leaps of understanding are a perfectly natural result of working with a symbolic system.

The pragmatic tarot school introduces a way of learning tarot as a set of simple, overlapping patterns. Anyone is welcome, complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Requirements
You need:
* Your own cards
* A Tarot diary

To take part you need your own deck of cards. It’s going to be best to stick to one of the classic decks – recommended the Rider Waite deck or the Marseille Deck. Both are available on Amazon for about £10. (If you can’t get some cards before the class, don’t worry too much, they are just needed for your own explorations.)

You don’t need to know anything about the Tarot, but if you do, then there is no reason you can’t learn more.
