myFINBEC Art + Wine Show
For the past few years, the winery Cave Fin Bec in Switzerland has held an art and wine event called myFINBEC. Cave Fin Bec proprietor Yvo Mathier, has a passion for wine as well as art, and has created an event that brings both of these passions together as one experience.
What makes this event unique is that each year the artists paint eight wine labels on 672 stacked wood wine crates (84 crates for each painting). These eight paintings are then printed as wine labels for a special limited edition organic wine from Cave Fin Bec. Then each of the eight paintings are taken apart case by case, and these cases are filled with six bottles of wine. Each case of wine is then made available to anywhere in the world that wine can legally be shipped. All too often the work of painters is beyond the reach of most people, and myFINBEC makes it more affordable to have the chance to have a piece of original art in your home suitable for framing. It’s all about sharing.
The myFINBEC Art + Wine European Tour is a series of four day pop-up shows held in street galleries. It is a chance for people to view eight murals each measuring over 3 meters high by 2 meters wide. Attendees of the Art + Wine show will be able to purchase sections of the original art in the form of wood wine cases. These wood cases will later by filled with six bottles of Cave Fin Bec’s organic red and white wine. Also available at the art show are limited edition signed art prints of each painting. The artists for this year’s myFINBEC are – VHILS from Portugal, Herakut from Germany, C215 from France and Etam Cru from Poland.
VHILS
Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto (1987) has been interacting visually with the urban environment under the name of Vhils since his days as a prolific graffiti writer in the early 2000s. His groundbreaking carving technique – which forms the basis of the Scratching the Surface series and was first presented to the public at the VSP group show in Lisbon in 2007 and at the Cans Festival in London in 2008 –, has been hailed as one of the most compelling approaches to art created in the street in the last decade. An avid experimentalist, he has been developing his notion of the aesthetics of vandalism in a plurality of media – from stencil painting to wall carving, from pyrotechnic explosions to 3D modelling – which have enabled him to expand the boundaries of visual expression.
HERAKUT
Since 2004 the German street art duo Hera and Akut form a fruitful partnership having worked together on various successful global art projects. Their art works can be found in big cities around the world – from Toronto to Kathmandu, from San Francisco to Melbourne. Their joint creative art process is dialogical, among themselves as well as towards the outside by embracing the public. It’s about storytelling, the creation of imaginary worlds and inspiring their figures with individual characters. Hera sets the characters’ form and proportions, whilst Akut paints the photorealistic elements. There is a pictorial and textual component in their art pieces. The short quotes, passages or descriptions written next to the figures are references to the character’s life.
ETAM CRU
Etam Cru is the artist duo Bezt and Sainer. They both graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and work today as freelancers expressing themselves between murals, canvases and graphic design with a focus on illustrations and portraits. Etam Cru enjoys to depict real objects and human figures in unexpected contexts. In doing so, the artist duo invites the viewer to their very own world of imagination, where meaning is never strictly defined. Contemplators are encouraged to step into Etam’s surreal stories and develop them according to his or her individual liking.
C215
C215, is the moniker of Christian Guémy, a French street artist hailing from Paris. C215 primarily uses stencils to produce his art. His first stencil work was put up in 2006, but he has been a graffiti artist for (as of 2011) over 20 years. His work consists mainly of close up portraits of people. C215′s subjects are typically those such as beggars, homeless people, refugees, street kids and the elderly. The rationale behind this choice of subject is to draw attention to those that society has forgotten about. C215 is a prolific street artist and has practiced his art in cities all over the world. His stencils may be seen in Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Rome, Paris and Oslo.

First Thursday: After Dark
Delving into the twilight hours, this exhibition celebrates exhibitionism and showcases art which references or has been inspired by London’s club kids and the city’s alternative club scene. Looking back at seminal moments in underground clubbing history that have shifted British mainstream culture, from the 1980s right up until now, After Dark features a diverse selection of art, film & fashion emerging from the legacy of these eclectic, innovative & experimental times.
Show featuring: David Holah, Jeffrey Hinton, Joseph Wilson, Nathan French
–
David Holah: Holah’s practice explores notions of sexual identity, gender in a ‘transmorphic’ state, and the social perception of gender roles (feminine male or masculine female). The work contains suggestive symbolism concerning gender disguise and hidden elucidation. The work is self-indulgent and contains complex, subliminal elements that relate to his own history and personal sexual identity, and his interpretation of his feminine male role. Printmaking techniques are employed to explore the glamour and decoration of fashion in an amusing and camp framework.
Alongside Stevie Stewart, Holah founded Bodymap an influential British fashion label of the 1980s, renowned for its layered and innovatively structured shapes, distinctive prints and groundbreaking fashion shows. Bodymap outfits are displayed in museums world wide including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Jeffrey Hinton – Life Is A Drag- The Medley:
Legendary deejay and archivist, Jeffrey Hinton’s latest film, Life Is A Drag – The Medley is a visual diary, a fascinating exploration into the world he inhabits, scenes of experimental performance, moments captured with people long forgotten, an informed legacy that continues to inspire a younger generation. This montage of rare footage records the many creative people he has encountered in his social life including amateur drag performer Rose Marie, Hot Peaches performance troupe, disco diva Space Princess and even himself in drag from the 80s married with todays stars of drag Jonny Woo, Ma Butcher, Gay Bingo and Sink The Pink to name just a few. Jeffrey takes a dreamlike look inside a world that addresses gender and sexuality over three decades, exploring the fringes of self expression here flamboyance and glamour can be interpreted with a serious and reflective social agenda.
Hinton’s deejay career spans over 3 decades with residencies at clubs including Taboo, The Daisy Chain, Queer Nation, Dalston Superstore, Vogue Fabrics and East Bloc.
Joseph Wilson – Drag Is My Ecstasy:
Once a month, The Bethnal Green working men’s club hosts East London’s most infamous queer night, Sink The Pink. The night is hosted by a mix of eclectic drag queens who entertain and take spectators on a journey into their spectacular world. It’s a night that truly has to be seen to be believed. From director and producer Joseph Wilson comes Drag Is My Ecstasy, is a new short film exploring the lives of three of Sink the Pink’s most beloved performers, both in and out of drag. Join Alexus De Luxe, Oozing Gloop and Jonbenet Blonde as they provide you, the audience, with an access all areas insight into their highly entertaining, endearing and thought provoking lives.

First Thursday May: Ermacora presents Gino Saccone, New Works
The two tapestries displayed are titled Trifling May (ja oui) and Your hands (ja oui). They are party to a series of compositions that show amongst other forms sections of a typeface which has been specially designed for a Ouija board.
The font itself is wrought first in plasticine then scanned in three dimensions. The resulting computer model is then textured and set against a background array of colour and form which is made by using a succession of scanned watercolour paintings. In the weaving process, cotton yarns are combined in different ways to develop an index of structures that are used to build a pallet of matted and open weave textures and colours.
The main arc of Saccone’s practise is focused on the general contingency of physical objects, how they relate to the wider universe, and how we perceive and become implicated by them. The current working process oscillates between the use of traditional media such as painting and sculpture and the digital space of computer modeling, scanning and texturing. Saccone sets up experiments that playfully work with the translation between these two languages, often passing the outcomes of this process to and fro several times to produce an image or form – and in this case developed into jacquard tapestry.
Also being exhibited is Untitled (2007). A film entirely composed of sequences showing a golf ball in flight and navigating the frame as the camera operator attempts to keep it in shot.
Gino Saccone lives and works in London. He studied at Rijksakademie van Beeldende kunsten and at the Royal College of Art (Sculpture). Recent solo shows include: ‘Metafonia’, Atelier Concorde, Lisbon; ’90%proof’, Welcome Screen, London; ‘Maquette for an e-card’, Supplement gallery, London, ‘Ear Found Please Contact Reception’, Ana Cristea, NYC.
Wharf Kitchen will be open for beer & beigels

First Thursday April
Ermacora presents John Workman, Painting the Past
John Workman’s pieces show a world that has gone. Metal lightboxes, salvaged from disused darkrooms, hold landscapes painted on glass, the light inside glowing through the painted clouds and trees like the dying light in a Claude Lorrain painting. Although the boxes belong to the industrial 20th century, they suggest with their illuminated images an older period, the Victorian era, with its magic lanterns and sentimental nostalgia for the past. The images themselves belong to an even more distant time; they are taken from paintings of the 18th or 17th century, idealised landscapes depicting scenes from a biblical or classical past that was already remote in time, or perhaps never existed. John Workman is based in Brixton, London.
Wharf Kitchen will be open for beer & beigels

First Thursday March
Ermacora invites Degree Art to expand its role in future talent with LimeWharf through co-curating an exhibition of works by emerging artists
Darren MacPherson & Laura Fishman
Darren MacPherson is an artist whose vibrant figurative work offers a subtle complexity surrounding the human condition. Working in acrylics, spray paint, oil pastel and crayon his work recalls personal territories that range from his city environment to his family history. Indian, Japanese and urban influences are prominent, along with intricate tattoo like motifs. Loose brushwork and layering inform his constant hunt for the perfect expression of a character.
About the Artist:
Macpherson’s work has been included in prestigious events such as FLAGSTOP in LA, The Other Art Fair in London and the 2011 ‘National Open Art Exhibition’, judged by Gavin Turk, are cementing MacPherson’s name as an artist with a growing reputation.
http://www.degreeart.com/users/darren-macpherson
Laura Fishman’s artistic vision is to connect with the viewer through the language of colour and paint, and to convey her experiences. Her abstract canvases are scumbled, dripped and poured – full of energy, and glowing with colour. With a deeply intuitive approach, opaque and translucent layers are worked until the results produce surfaces that are beautifully textured, sublimely multi-coloured and visually engaging.
About the Artist
Fishman graduated from the State University of New York with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, where she studied figurative and abstract painting. She continued her studies in textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and earned her MA Fine Art at Middlesex University in London. Laura is founder of Creative Drawing Studio in North London and a certified GOLDEN Artist Educator.

First Thursday February
Ermacora presents Dante’s Inferno theatrical life drawing class taught by artist Philip Firsov.
Actors will recreate scenes and interpret passages from Dante’s Inferno.
Inspired by Gustave Doré and William Blake’s illustrations of the poem, the models will use special clothing and props, while Philip will introduce the scene and read some passages from the Inferno. Kevin, the male model, is also a professional actor and will recite while we draw. Each pose will be held for 10 mins. Charcoal will be provided but please do bring any other preferred materials. This session is particularly useful because the interaction between models, their relation of distance, their overlapping and their gestures will prompt us to consider the composition in its totality.

Ermacora presents Kitchen Experiment 02 with guest residents Edible Stories at LimeWharf
Edible Stories bring stories to life through unique, provocative and immersive edible experiences.
This carefully curated and themed dining experience, takes some of your favourite written stories and brings them to life exclusively through the use of food. Coming into the experience you are given the information of time and directions to a given place, but not the title of the story.
During a two hour experience the still secret story is broken down and presented as various edible courses. Without any form of verbal narration; the food, your interaction with it, the interaction with the people at the table with you, and your environment will allow you to pull together the clues and gradually uncover the story.
In this perfect combination of role play, food and story, you are the protagonist of your own experience. It is up to you to let yourself go and become fully part of the telling.
2 nights only. 12&13 December, 20:00-22:00
Book tickets here
This curated narrative culinary experience will prelude future collaborations between Chloé Morris and Thomas Ermacora. The Wharf Kitchen and chef, Matt Casey, along with the Edible Stories House chefs will be the backbone of this adventure.
